In March 2020, the number of passengers on French public transport dropped by 90%, with a similar decline observed in Switzerland. With the lockdowns now over and the development of telework radically changing the commuting habits of a large part of the population, how is public transport emerging from the pandemic? Will public transport survive precisely when it is most needed for the ecological transition? Annelise Avril, Director of Marketing, Innovation, New Mobilities for the Keolis group, and David Henny, head of passenger service planning at the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), answered our questions.

With 25 years of experience in the public services and utilities sector, Annelise Avril is currently Group Senior Executive Vice President at Keolis, in charge of Innovation, Marketing, Digital Solutions and New Mobility Services. Annelise began her career in 1995 as a project engineer at Suez Consulting, before joining the French Water Circle as General Delegate from 2000 to 2003. From 2004, she worked in different operational roles within the Suez Group, including Regional Operations Manager in France, Performance & Innovation Manager in Perth, Australia, General Manager of Allwater, a subsidiary of Suez in South Australia, CEO of Suez Consulting, Suez international subsidiary dedicated to engineering and consulting services, before taking on the position of Group Senior Vice President for R&D, Innovation and Digital Transformation.

David Henny

Head of passenger service planning at the Swiss Federal Railways

David Henny is head of passenger service planning at the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). He grew up in Lausanne and currently lives in Bern. He studies the evolution of mobility behaviours in order to adapt train travel to new needs.
